What is the difference between RedCoach and Greyhound?
Greyhound sells one class of service. RedCoach sells three, so you choose the trip you want: Premium Economy from $24, Business Class with an 18 inch seat, or First Class with a 21 inch seat in a 2-1 layout, which means one side of the coach has no seat beside it. Every RedCoach fare includes an assigned seat, two checked bags, a 110V outlet, an adjustable footrest and free 5G Wi-Fi.
How many bags are included with a RedCoach ticket compared to Greyhound?
RedCoach includes two checked bags up to 50 pounds each plus a carry-on, on every fare and in every class. Greyhound includes one stowed bag plus one small carry-on, and a second bag costs $21.99 to $44.99, has to be added in advance, and is still subject to space in the baggage compartment. If you are moving a student in or out of a dorm, that is the whole difference
What happens if I cancel a RedCoach ticket versus a Greyhound ticket?
Greyhound refunds as a voucher on a sliding scale: 100% at 30 or more days out, 70% at 7 to 29 days, 40% at 2 to 6 days, and 20% inside two days. RedCoach returns 100% of the ticket value as a travel voucher any time up to 3 hours before departure, excluding fees, good on any future RedCoach trip. Same trip, very different outcome when plans move at the last minute.
Can I change my RedCoach travel date for free?
Yes. Date and time changes are free when you make them online. Changes by phone or SMS cost $6, and any fare difference is payable at the time of the change. On Greyhound a change is processed as a cancel and rebook, so how much of your fare carries over depends on how close to departure you are.
Do I have to pay to pick my seat on RedCoach?
No. Assigned seating is included with every RedCoach fare and you choose your seat when you book. Greyhound sells seat reservations as an add-on from $1.99 to $19.99, and without one you are either auto assigned or seated first come, first served.
Does RedCoach have a student discount?
Yes, 10% off with a valid student ID, on top of fares starting at $24. Greyhound does not publish a student discount. RedCoach also takes up to 25% off three or more tickets, and stops at Gainesville, Tallahassee, Orlando UCF, College Station and San Marcos, with both checked bags included at every fare.
Is RedCoach more comfortable than Greyhound?
On anything past about five hours, the seat is the product. RedCoach seats are 16 inches wide in Premium Economy, 18 in Business and 21 in First Class, with an adjustable footrest, a 110V outlet and free 5G Wi-Fi at every seat in every class, and Business and First recline 140 degrees. Greyhound runs a single class and does not publish seat width or recline.
