Does Brightline go to Tampa, Gainesville or Tallahassee?
No. Brightline serves six stations: Miami, Aventura, Fort Lauderdale, Boca Raton, West Palm Beach and Orlando. RedCoach has 17 Florida stops, including Tampa, St. Petersburg, Sarasota, Fort Myers, Naples, Gainesville, Ocala, Kissimmee, Orlando UCF and Tallahassee. For most Florida trips the train does not go there and RedCoach does.
Is RedCoach cheaper than Brightline?
RedCoach fares start at $24 and include two checked bags. Brightline’s SMART fare charges $30 for a standard checked bag and $60 for a large or overweight one, and does not check bags at all at Boca Raton or Aventura. For a family of four checking one bag each, that is $120 in fees on top of the fare, versus $0 on RedCoach.
How many bags are included with a RedCoach ticket?
Two checked bags up to 50 pounds each, plus a carry-on, on every fare and in every class. There is no station in our network where checked baggage is unavailable, and there is no fee for the second bag.
Is Brightline faster than RedCoach?
On the corridor it runs, yes. Brightline covers Miami to Orlando in about three hours nonstop against roughly four on RedCoach. That hour only exists between two of their six stations. Anywhere else in Florida the comparison is not speed, it is whether the trip is possible at all.
What is RedCoach’s cancellation policy?
Cancel up to 3 hours before departure and you get the full value of your ticket back as a travel voucher, excluding fees, good on any future RedCoach trip. Date and time changes are free online, or $6 by phone or SMS. There is no sliding scale and no percentage deducted.
Can I take RedCoach to UF or FSU?
Yes. RedCoach serves Gainesville for the University of Florida and Tallahassee for Florida State, along with Ocala and Fort Pierce. Neither campus is on the Brightline network. Students save 10% with a valid student ID, and both checked bags are included, which matters at move-in and move-out.
