RedCoach Gives Back: Funding Working FamiliesOn May 17, 2019
Being involved with the local Florida community is an important part of doing business for RedCoach. One way that the company tries to give back is through an organization called Funding Working Families.
This is a nonprofit organization that helps underprivileged children and their families go on vacation to a theme park. Being in Florida, there are several places that children can choose to go to that might not otherwise be an option for these hardworking families.
A History of Funding Working Families
This 501c(3) nonprofit network makes a difference by sending hardworking families on vacations. These experiences last a lifetime and help build family relationships. It is also a benefit for all members of the family to take a break and relax together.
In 2017, the poverty threshold, according to the US Census Bureau, is an annual income of $24,858 for a household with two adults and two children. That isn’t enough money to provide for many vacations, even living in a popular destination state.
How RedCoach Helps
RedCoach got involved with Funding Working Families to help provide transportation for these vacations. Each year, RedCoach provides free tickets to the families on our buses from West Palm Beach to Disney.
This is a great way to make the trip special since our luxury buses have comfortable reclining seats, free onboard wi-fi, and plenty of leg room for the adults. This year, we were able to help three families enjoy a spring break vacation at Disney’s theme parks. Here is a little more about each family.
The Rivers Family
Willie Joe Rivers is a hardworking truck driver who works long hours. He is married to Francine, a school bus driver, who was unable to get the time off work to join in on the fun. Mr. Rivers was excited to spend time with his 10-year-old son, Tawan, and grandson, Johnny.
The Hankerson Family
Latangela Hankerson is a dedicated mother and hardworking cashier. She was able to bring her two beautiful daughters Jordin, who is 9 years old, and Alani, who is 2 years old.
Quiroz Zuleta Family
Maria and her 4-year-old son, Santiago, were able to enjoy their first trip to Disney together. While juggling single mom life, Maria also works full time for a nonprofit agency in their call center.
Going on vacation to Disney was such a positive experience for these families. These parents work hard every day to provide a good life for their children and enjoyed taking some time off to bond. The reason Disney is such a great place for vacation is because the magic is alive for both kids and adults. This was an experience that none of the recipients will soon forget.
